How to avoid the stress of commuting
I am sure you’ve got to do some commuting each day, or perhaps every few days for meetings, if you are working from
home, maybe it´s when you are travelling! Commuting can be stressful however you can use the following tips to help reduce the stress to a minimum. The stress of commuting is a serious challenge for many working adults. The last thing you want is to get stressed before you even arrive at your destination. Since you may be commuting first thing in the morning at late in the evening, you don’t want to start and end your day with extra stress.
Reducing stress before you start out:
Get going early! I always find that the night before it´s a good idea to get to bed early so I can get up a little bit earlier and get myself mentally prepared! If you know what hours are peak times you can also head off a little bit earlier to avoid the crowds. Make sure that before you go to bed the night before that you have everything that you need ready or packed. The worst thing is getting up late, not finding your keys, wallet or passport and then rushing.
Take time to have a good breakfast – if travelling some distance make sure that you eat healthy as if you have a big fried breakfast it may fill you up but also bloat you! Giving yourself enough time means you leave relaxed.
Get the timing correct. Try to plan your travel to avoid the rush hours. In the morning leave early and take a book with you to read if you need to wait around. In the evening see if you can fit in an activity so that you return after rush hour. If you are travelling for meetings, see if you can schedule a number of meetings for the same day and a time that suits you. For example first meeting at 11am second at 2pm, then you will be able to avoid the bulk of traffic.
Can you work flexible hours? See if you can talk to your employer and ask if you can work flexible hours. Many employers may be open to the idea. If possible see if you can work one or two days a week. This will take a lot of trust from your employer, as many feel that you will not be as productive. The key here is if you given flexible hours make sure you are as productive as possible to show that working from home works!
Are there other ways to get to work? Many times people take the same route or the same means of transport to work. Have you looked into taking the metro, bus or train? What about seeing if there is a carpooling system in your workplace? There are also websites where you can carpool. What about walking a little way to work if you can? There´s also may be the option of cycling to work if you have showers in work, and a bike. Even if you don’t have a bike does your company have a scheme to help with the purchase of a bike? Many cities now have special bike scheme where you can “rent” a bike for 30 minutes for free (bar a once off fee)
Keep fit and eat well. If you are overweight, not eating well, etc, you will be more prone to stress. So make sure you take exercise and eat properly. It will make a difference
Managing stress while you commute:
Be positive. If you are driving and other drivers are aggressive or pushing in front of you just let it go. If you respond angrily you are going to end up stressed, breathe deeply and then release the breath and the anger you feel. When you’re sitting in traffic, be thankful that you can reflect on the day ahead or the day you had. Utilise the time rather than be angry. Remember if you left in time you will still make your appointment.
Relax. I find that listening to music or an audio book keeps my mind away from the traffic and helps me focus and relax. Always use positive methods to relax – don´t smoke or overeat in order to relax.
Make sure you are ergonomic. Well you might not be able to be ergonomic, but make sure the seat you are in is! No matter where or how you are travelling, make sure your seat is comfortable. Use an extra cushion if you need. If your commute is on a train or a bus, make sure you get up and move, even if only to change position. This is particularly important on air travel where you might be sitting for a long period of time.
Managing stress after a commute
Leave it all behind. When you arrive home and close the door of the car or close the door of your house, that’s it. You are in your private space and you don’t have to think about any of the stress that you may have experienced. It’s as simple as that when you close the door all the stress is left behind.
Design your welcome home! Make sure you have a welcome home ritual. It could be anything from having a coffee, turning on the tv or running a bath. No matter what it is have it there so that each and every time you return home you know that it is waiting for you
Commuting does not have to stress you out! Make sure you plan your journey, start out early, have reading material or listening material and just relax 🙂

I gave https://www.cornbreadhemp.com/products/cbda-oil a whack at for the treatment of the maiden habits, and I’m amazed! They tasted distinguished and provided a sense of calmness and relaxation. My lay stress melted away, and I slept outstrip too. These gummies are a game-changer for me, and I highly endorse them to anyone seeking appropriate pain recess and well-advised sleep.
