5 Ways To Take Worry Out Of Your Life

5 Ways To Take Worry Out Of Your Life

Anxiety and worry tear down your mind and body. The constant concern about every part of life is draining, but here are five ways to better manage and cope with the obstacles that life can throw at you. The following strategies and services can help you reduce stress and anxiety and improve your overall health.

Exercise More

Put on your headphones and hone in on your wellness at the gym. Exercise is a proven stress reliever. According to the HealthGrinder, when you work out, your body releases endorphins—chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers—and you improve your ability to sleep and more!. Sleep reduces stress, so if you can arrange for your body to get more sleep, your health will improve.

Secure Your Home

There’s no place like home. It’s your safety blanket and comfortable space all bundled into one. Safeguard your home and bring yourself peace of mind each day with a home security system. Today’s systems are so advanced that you can use mobile apps to view inside your home at any time and get notifications if something warrants your attention. Home is one less thing to worry about when you have a home security system.

Find a Life Coach

Life can become overwhelming. When you’ve reached your boiling point, the answers to problems become muddled. What if you had a reliable confidant, someone who you could reach out to whenever you needed new techniques to solve a problem or help you relax?

That’s exactly what life coaches do. When you have a life coach, you’re more able to reduce any work-related stress you may have in your life. Life coaches also help you see the positive side in all aspects of your life.

Reduce Your Roles

The more roles you play, the more stress you accumulate due to time conflicts, lack of time for family, and neglect of needed downtime for yourself. You must learn to balance the roles you play and remove unnecessary ones from your already full plate.

Hire a Maid Service

You work late, pick up the kids from practice, and cook. The dishes and laundry pile up; the house is a wreck. You’re sick of leaving your job only to work until 10 pm and fall into bed every day of the week. Solution: Hire a maid service. Take cleaning out of your equation and come home to tidy home. A tidy house leads to a tidy mind, which will make it even easier for you to relax in the evening.

Conclusion

Many services and strategies can improve the quality of your life. Find one or a combination of a couple that works for you and use them!

Self sabotage and goal setting

March 20, 2016 by Richard Butler Leave a Comment

Self sabotage is something that many of us do.  It is a strange habit to be honest, as we don’t really want to sabotage ourselves but some reason we do!  You know how it is you are all prepared to do something, let’s take a simple example, like going out to exercise, but then you find an excuse to stay in and watch tv.  I am sure it has happened to you on more than one occasion.

In this article I want to talk about some strategies you can use to become aware of and ultimately stop yourself from self sabotage. Once you have this under control you can start to really plan out your goals.

As you may remember I spent some time talking abut limiting beliefs and this is one the things can stand in your way and give more power to that self sabotaging theif that lies within you!

You need to take stock of your limiting beliefs and then create new and more empowering ones.

Here are my top 4 reasons as to why people self sabotage:

Settling for less. Many people settle for less than their best.  I know why people do this, because if they set a goal that makes them uncomfortable, they are afraid of failing, thus if you settle for less than your best, you won’t fail!  However doing this means that you are stopping short of unleashing your full potential.

So why do people settle for less? Because they may not want to fail, but they may also not realise that they have the power within them to actually achieve greatness.

One way of testing your strength is to try to push yourself out of your comfort zone every day. It may be something small, it may be something big, but each day try to do something that feels a small bit uncomfortable.

Not taking responsibility. Too often than not we decide not to take responsibility for our own lives.  We hand it over to someone else.  We say “I could not get that completed because of x or y” Sure there are some things which are beyond our control but too often we blame others for our lack of success.  This self sabotage is nice and easy as “it was not my fault.“

Never depend on other people as they may not help you and then you have an excuse to fall back on when you don’t succeed!  This allows you to easily let yourself engage in self sabotage.

Feeling sorry for yourself. Oh boy this is one I can relate to, and have used in the past! We feel sorry for ourselves and again this can sometimes be combined with the point above of it not being your fault.  More often than not we focus on the negative and dwell on it.  We don’t see the solutions but rather the problems.  Always seek the positive from any situation you find yourself in.

It can be hard to change your mindset and think in the positive, but you need to reflect on your situation in life and accept that things have happened and now you need to think how you can learn from the experience to make you stronger.

No plan B. Do you have a plan B?  A secondary plan that you can fall back on?  It is essential that we have a plan B.  The truth is life happens and sometimes what happens is the complete opposite to what you have hoped for.  By having a plan B you have a safety net.

For example the person who finds themselves out of work because the company downsized.  If you have a plan B in place “just in case” you will soon be back earning.  Too many people have been in the situation that they lose their job – due to the global crisis.

Without a plan B they find themselves in a very tough situation.

Once you become aware of how you are self sabotaging yourself you can take action to put strategies in place.  Look we all do it at some point in our life so don’t beat yourself up over it.  However, you have to make sure you don’t keep doing it!

When we think of things as problems we don’t find answers, so switch your language and call them challenges – it is often easier to find a solution to a challenge.

Oh so tired and look what is happening!

October 31, 2015 by Richard Butler Leave a Comment

A different type of post today, about being tired and how it affects you!

Ok let me first start this post with a disclaimer!  I am not a medical doctor, never have been, never will be one and have never played one in a movie!  (You know with all the legal issues and suing and stuff I have to make that clear!)

Ok so this week for me was a long and unfocussed week.  We had a friend staying over with us, so we were out more, going to bed late, and not eating our regular food.  Then last Friday night I went out with the gang from work! Oh man bad idea, let’s say after  arriving back at 6am and having to get up at 1030am I did not start the weekend off well.

Saturday was a washout, I was so tired but had to keep on smiling (no siesta for me), then we got home late Saturday and had a full on day on Sunday, and so the week continued.  My body was playing catch up for the whole weekend.

What I found though, and this is the point of the article, is that my body started to crave more food.  Which of course is normal when you think about it – the less energy you have the more fuel you need to power the body, and that fuel usually comes in the form of processed food, chocolates etc. In turn this fuel gives you a temporary boost but then you feel tired again – creating a vicious circle!

Then on Friday I had my company medical so I had to be up at 6:30am in order to get to the doctors at 7:30am – another early morning!  When all is told I am not at the point where I am super tired and trying to refocus and get back into my normal routine.

So what does any of this have to do with self help? A very good question, and here is your answer!  Our body and mind are connected.  When one is not in top form the other suffers.  I have seen this myself.  I have not been focused on my writing, on preparation I have to do etc.  I do it of course but I am not operating at 100%.

If we don’t look after our bodies our minds suffer, if we don’t look after our mind our body suffers.  Thus we need to ensure we are feeling both body and mind.

To do this we need to eat well, we need to exercise, we need to rest. Don’t fool yourself thinking you can survive on 5 hours sleep by drinking red bull throughout the day – yes maybe you can for a few days but eventually you will crash, and probably crash hard!

Look after your body and your mind will be fresher.

I would be very interested to know your tips for maintaining  a healthy mind and body.

Till next time….

What really matters?

April 8, 2014 by Richard Butler Leave a Comment

It´s a question that many people often wonder and ask themselves.  Let´s look at this question in a few different ways:

What really matters?

Sometimes you need to ask yourself, what really matters to you, your life, and the people you love?  Too often we get caught up with our job, with money, with food, in fact anything we get caught up with can be bad for us.  Coaching tools such as  the wheel of life, can really help you see where you are at the moment in your life.
