What´s your game plan for the coming 12 months?
I bet you´ve been in the position that a year goes by and you don´t reach your goals? I know I have been there. One issue is that we all set goals at the end of a year or the beginning of a new one. We soon forget them until the following year. However it´s ok you don´t need to set your goals just at the beginning of the year you can start them today! You don´t need to wait.
It is possible to make a few changes and reach the goals that you want to reach if you are determined and commit to it.
The first thing you have to do is believe in your abilities. You have too believe that you can do it. To be honest I´ve coached lots of people and I know that anyone can achieve their goals if they set their mind to it. So let´s start.
Here is a step by step plan to help you achieve your goals easier:
Be thankful for what you have achieved thus far. Let´s say you did not reach your goals that you wanted, I bet you are in a better place now and have achieved more than you thought possible. Think about these accomplishments now and let them feel good. Once you think about it you will see that you have actually achieved more than you thought!
Create what I call a “master list”. A more trendy name for this is a bucket list. It´s a list of things you want to achieve. Remember it can be anything that you want to achieve, each person is different. Everyone has different goals. Once you have this “master list” you can then measure your success in reaching your goals.
Goals need to be prioritized. Once you have created your master list you will have a large list of things you want to achieve. I always tell my clients to arrange the list in the order that they want to achieve. Then they should focus on the top five or six goals.
Set attainable goals and sub-goals. Remember the saying how do you eat an elephant? Piece by piece! You need to look at each goal and then break it down into smaller goals. Set yourself a time line to achieve the goals. This is essential.
- It´s essential to realize that the only way to achieve a larger goal is to break down into smaller more manageable chunks or pieces. Since you have broken down the goal, this in itself proves that it is more attainable. You now have a plan in place! Just focus now on completing each step!
- Reward yourself with each success you have. This is very important.
Reread your goals and keep up your commitment. Every day, week, month re visit your goals and keep yourself focused. It is essential you reaffirm yourself that these goals are important.
- Read each goal, and say to yourself or out lout, “I reaffirm my total commitment to …” and then read your goal out.
- Doing this exercise allows you to, verbally affirm to yourself that you are going to do what is necessary to achieve the goals. This keeps you focused
- Be a solution finder to challenges rather than then a problem solver. You will come up against brick walls and challenges. Did I say this was going to be easy? Challenges arise but they help us move forward and become stronger. When a challenge appears don´t give up, keep going and grow!
This change in approach will help you achieve your goals faster, and actually achieve them! Keep reading my blog for more informative ideas, and leave a comment and let´s talk about this!
