Let’s first define coaching?
For me it’s about asking the right questions and listening to you. How many times a day do people really listen to you? How many times a day do you listen to people. When I say listen I mean really understand what the person is saying. Too often when someone is talking we’re having a conversation in our head, trying to think of how we might answer what they are talking about – we are not listening to them…
Coaching is not about analyzing your past, bringing up phobias and problems you had. It’s about this present moment and the future. You can change your future, you can’t change your past. However you can learn from your past, gain feedback, become wiser and use this information to shape your future.
Can only successful people coach me?
This is a question that comes up time and time again. For me the answer is no. The person needs to be a good communicator on all levels. Too many people say hey I’m successful so I can coach ? if they are a good communicator yes, if they have the toolset and skills for coaching yes. However can a great scientist be a great teacher? Not always. There’s many people who are wonderful at what they do but just can’t show others.
The first question is to always ask what is success – it’s not all about money, but too many people believe it is. Success for each person differs. I am successful, I run a number of profitable Internet websites, I coach offline and also do Reiki healing. I have a great life, great family and have what I desire. Am I rich? I do well, but I’m not rich enough to do nothing all day!
Can I coach – you bet. Just look at some of the testimonials on the website – they speak for themselves. I listen, I read between the lines of what you say.
I’ve found coaching via email to be one of the most successful ways to coach. It works so well because you have time to reflect, you have time to re read your answers, you have a printed record of everything we talked about. You choose the time that suits you to reply to the email.
